Medical Oncology Division
The division specializes in cancer diagnosis and treatment under the supervision of expert faculty members. Established in 1972 as the first of its kind in Türkiye, it continues to operate within the Hacettepe University Central Campus at Hacettepe Oncology Hospital.
The Medical Oncology Division provides patient care through outpatient clinics, a daytime treatment unit, a stem cell transplantation unit, an apheresis unit, and inpatient services. It follows modern medical standards, ensuring high-quality treatment for patients.
Patients diagnosed with or suspected of having cancer are referred to our department. We diagnose and treat various types of cancers, including:
Our department administers chemotherapy mainly in the outpatient setting, but patients requiring continuous infusion therapy or those unable to receive outpatient treatment are hospitalized. We adhere to the latest treatment protocols, conduct clinical research on emerging therapies, and provide patients access to early access programs for new drugs.
The division is integrated with the Oncology Institute’s educational programs and also contributes to medical oncology, internal medicine, and medical faculty training. Our faculty collaborates closely with other scientific departments and units within the Faculty of Medicine and hospitals.
On average, the division examines and follows up on more than 100 outpatients daily.

Pediatric Oncology Division
Pediatric oncology services are provided by experienced faculty and specialists from the Department of Pediatric Health and Diseases at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. Outpatient examinations and daily chemotherapy services are offered at Hacettepe Oncology Hospital, while inpatients receive care at Hacettepe İhsan Doğramacı Children's Hospital in specialized age-grouped wards.
Survival rates for childhood cancers have reached 75-80% in developed countries, and our department has achieved survival rates exceeding 90% for Wilms tumor and Hodgkin’s disease.

Each year, our department treats approximately 200 new patients and provides daily follow-up for 25-30 ongoing cases. Our facility maintains multidisciplinary collaborations with departments including pediatric surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, ENT, and pediatric pathology. We also house a specialized bone marrow transplantation unit and a drug resistance research laboratory.

Tumor Pathology Division
Pathology is an integral part of the modern approach to cancer. The Tumor Pathology Division, under the Department of Medical Oncology at the Cancer Institute, does not perform routine pathological examinations. These are conducted under the Department of Medical Pathology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine.
The division focuses on research aimed at understanding disease pathogenesis and provides courses within the graduate and doctoral programs of the Cancer Institute.
